ASSET III Kick off meeting - April 30, 2009

Aging Systems Sustainment and Enabling Technologies (ASSET) is a collaborative program designed to address the vexing problems caused by the old, worn or obsolete parts in the air and ground systems that support America's war fighters.

ASSET's mission is to enhance and assure the supply base for the Department of Defense, by working closely with the Defense Logistics Agency, using processes that reduce costs, cycle times and waste, while increasing military preparedness and creating manufacturing jobs.

ASSET's government-university-businesses partnership coordinates a manufacturing network that starts with an identified problem part or subsystem and creates viable delivery solutions in a timely, cost-effective manner. Solutions may include technology development, reengineering, technology insertion, rapid prototyping, shape engineering or other strategies that are tailored to a particular context.

The ASSET program's success since its inception in 1994 is due to the network of skilled and qualified manufacturers who design and deliver innovative ways to assure that parts are delivered.
